Egypt has approved four new oil and gas exploration and development agreements as part of efforts to lift domestic hydrocarbon production and draw fresh investment into its upstream sector, with the deals covering North Sinai, the Nile Delta, the Mediterranean Sea and the Eastern Desert.

One key agreement authorises the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company to partner with Perenco North Sinai Petroleum on the Al-Fayrouz onshore block in North Sinai, an area awarded to the company through EGAS’s 2024 international licensing round and finalised in June 2025. Perenco North Sinai Petroleum, a subsidiary of Egypt Kuwait Holding, has operated in the North Sinai concession since 2014 and will now carry out a 3D seismic survey before drilling an exploratory well.

The remaining three agreements cover exploration and production projects in the Nile Delta, the Mediterranean and the Eastern Desert, part of Egypt’s continued push to expand licensing rounds, encourage private-sector participation and reverse years of declining production across both mature and frontier basins.
