Khalda Petroleum, a joint venture between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and Apache Corporation, has brought its newly discovered Wanda gas well in Egypt’s Western Desert into production at an initial rate of around 40 million cubic feet per day.

The well was drilled to a depth of roughly 15,000 feet, with electric logs confirming gas-bearing formations. Khalda also completed a new 10-kilometre production pipeline at a cost of about $2.3 million to connect the well to existing infrastructure. Production began on July 22, with integration into Egypt’s national gas grid expected to be finalised by the end of the month.
