Saipem has been selected to deliver rigid pipelines and associated subsea structures for the third phase of Eni’s Baleine oil and gas development off Côte d’Ivoire, joining a growing roster of contractors on one of West Africa’s largest offshore projects.

Baleine Phase 3, which reached final investment decision in May, will lift total field production from 60,000 to 150,000 barrels of oil per day and gas output from 80 to 200 million cubic feet per day. Saipem’s scope covers engineering, fabrication, transportation and installation of about 50 kilometres of rigid pipelines, along with flexible risers, jumpers, subsea production systems, a three-kilometre flexible gas export flowline and 22 kilometres of subsea umbilical, over a project expected to last roughly three years.

Located in water depths of up to 1,300 metres, Phase 3 will include a new floating production, storage and offloading unit from Altera Infrastructure, with TechnipFMC supplying flexible flowlines and risers and OneSubsea delivering subsea production systems for 13 wells. Saipem separately won a roughly €800 million combined contract from Eni to build a new deoxygenation unit at Enilive’s biorefinery in Venice.
